Below you'll find suggestions of how to enhance the sensory + emotional experience of different episodes of my Podcast.
The episodes are designed to feel like intimate, cozy conversations; connecting through stories, life lessons, and emotional experiences.
Set the mood with these suggestions to enhance your listening experience:
Sight: Sit somewhere you can see pictures of your loved ones
Sound: This might be one you and your partner / co-parent listen to together.
Touch: A soft blanket
Taste: Try a warm drink, one with flavors of cinnamon or chocolate, something that reminds you of home.
Smell: It's almost fall but still feels like summer, I have been loving the woodsy smell of vetiver (Flamingo lotion in the green bottle is wonderful)
Get inspiration for how to take off or lighten the heavy backpack of relationship baggage you've been carrying:
Sight: This would be excellent to listen to while hiking, walking, or sitting in your favorite outdoor location.
Sound: Grab your best headphones or listen out loud while enjoying the sounds of nature.
Taste: Some crisp cool water, a little sweet treat like granola or trail mix might be nice.
Smell: Is there anything better than the natural smell of dirt and trees?!
Touch: Bring a backpack with your favorite picnic blanket or book. (Book inspo: When Things Aren't Going Right, Go Left by Marc Colagiovanni, Illustrated by Peter H Reynolds
This is a good one to listen to during an active meditation such as coloring, washing dishes, folding, knitting - something where your hands are active in a repetitive, automatic task and your mind is free to wander.
Sight: Your favorite coloring page and medium, I used colored pencils but whatever you fancy is best!
Sound: Background silence as you tune fully into your experience of receiving this information.
Taste: I think your favorite sweet treat would pair well with this one just to fully immerse in a sweet experience.
Smell: A spray of room freshener or favorite soap.
Touch: Maybe keep your favorite type of journal nearby to record reflections to return to, I love something with a squishy cover and spine.
What if no one else finds it meaningful?
I do and that's important.
Sight: Find an image on Pinterest, your camera roll, TV, social media, anywhere really; that reminds you of what you find most meaningful.
Sound: Silence :)
Taste: I'm digging some homemade pumpkin cream (heavy whip, sweetened condensed milk, pumpkin puree, spice, vanilla) cold brew but you do you boo.
Smell: Candle or Essential Oils if that's your jam
Touch: Some cute, cozy socks
Discussing Low Demand Parenting: what to do when you and your spouse disagree, aligning values, where to start, finding your limits and boundaries and negotiating that amongst all the members of the family.
